About the event
The relationship between humans and horses has been sustained for over 6,000 years. These special creatures have been coined 'emotional mirrors' for their capacity to reflect insight and feeback when interacting with us. More recently, they have become key participants in  animal-assisted therapy to improve the mental health of many people around the world.
Interacting with horses can offer a sense of calm, facilitating emotional regulation, and providing an avenue for safe, non-verbal communication. The connection formed offers a potentially powerful, hands-on approach to healing.Â
Nature and wellbeing is a core pillar of our community and we are thrilled to bring this all-ages experience to our festival goers.

About Equine Therpay Facilitator Kylie Dowling
Therapy faciltator Kylie Dowling says, "I have loved horses ever since I can remember, getting my first pony when I was six years old.  Pony Club, Eventing, PPGames, Gymkanas, Shows, Racing, Polo, Polocrosse, Campdraft…. you name it, I've  done it if it has anything to do with horses.  I was told at an early age by my dad that 'you’ll never make any money out of horses' so I went to University to study another passion of mine which was sport and Human Movement, culminating in securing my first PE Teaching appointment at the WA College of Agriculture Narrogin in 1997 where the Principal had requested a PE Teacher with Equine Experience.  This initiative was so we could start what become a hugely successful Equine Course at the College in 1998 with the intention to increase Female students numbers at the College and into Agriculture.  This was indeed my 'Dream Job' and I continued working at the College for the next 25yrs, during which time I also had four children, represented Australia twice in Polocrosse and became a Thoroughbred Race Horse Trainer.  Fast forward to the present I am still currently in the WA State Womens Polocrosse team. I breed and use Australian stock horses on our Farm and Feedlot, Dowlco Livestock in Popanyinning where we have a Cattle Registered Premise.  My new venture resides in the Equine Assisted Wellness space where I plan to combine my passions and knowledge to help people, whether it be physical, emotional, mental, vocational or practical,  using the horse to facilitate enrichment of lives.  I recently  completed an “Equine Assisted Wellbeing Practitioner’ course and plan to open a centre in Ascot next year,  taking the Horse to the People, to share the joy of connecting with the Horse to learn more about themselves and experience all the health giving benefits a horse has to offer."
